Happy New Year! OK I realise I am a tad late since we are well into January now but this blog is all about the festive season. I spent the Christmas/New Year break down in Sydney, which I must say proved to be the best location in Australia for that time of year. Back home in state of Queensland they had torrential rain and down in the state of Victoria they had similar weather to Kuwait. But in old Sydney town we had sunny days and a mild 25 - 28 degrees. Any hoos enough of the weather lets get on to the pics! As the title suggests most of my pictures of Sydney do include the Harbour Bridge. If you have been to Sydney you will understand why its just so hard not to take photos of it. It's the centre piece of the harbour and just catches your eye not matter where you are!

My mum and I actually flew down on Christmas Eve to spend Christmas with my older sister Kerrie. Christmas Day was actually a lovely and relaxing day. We spent it with Kerrie's flat mate Nat at a beautiful restaurant at Shelly Beach . This ment no cooking and no cleaning and instead we just sat back and enjoyed yummy food and lots of wine!
The dodgist Christmas Tree in Sydney, But it did the job and at least it wasn't a plastic one!
Le Kiosk the quaint little resturant we spent the day at, oh and Lady Muck aka Kerrie making fast tracks to the wine list.
Mum and Kezz

Who both obviously did not get enough sleep the night before!
The restaurant we literally on the Beach! Perfect.

The bay we looked over while eating yummy seafood.
After Christmas day Kerrie was straight back to work in organising the Ferry tours out on to the Harbour to watch the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. Of course as family we scored a trip out as well and was a good chance to catch up with my Aunt and Uncle, Rose and Ian.
The bridge from the quay.
Boats were everywhere on their way to see the start of the race.
Some of the Yachts actually in the race plus a dozen other spectator boats.
Rose and Mum.
Yachts heading out of the heads on their way to Hobart Tasmania.
The Queenscliff. One of the other Ferries out that day.
Ian, Mum, Kerrie and Rose.
After spending the day out on the Harbour that afternoon we went into town and caught up with some old family friends the Slades. The afternoon turned into serveral bottles of wine and turkish pizza at 2am.
We actually meet up at the Australian Hotel but the Observer is on the way so I thought I'd get a shot of a typical old Aussie pup.
The Slades, Sue, Chelsea, Adam and Bob.
Adam and I have known each other since we were about 9 years old. Have not seen each other for quite a few years so after every one else headed home we figured it would be better to continue drinking rum until 2am. Can't say the next day I thought it was a good idea but was good to catch up and hear all about his adventures in south America.
Ian and between Kezz and Rose
Ok, ok your over having your photo taken I get it!
Kerrie from the Ferries fading after a big day.
A few days later we jumped on another ferry and headed over to Watsons Bay to help Chelsea celbrate her 30th birthday. It was a good day with a BBQ in the park and a never ending game of cricket.
Watsons Bay is quite famous for its Fish and Chips.

The gathering for Chelsea's big 30

Mum and Kezz kicking back and enjoying the lovely weather.
What another photo of the Bridge!!! haha
Now you've seen the bloody thing from every angle haha...
The Beach in Mosman, where Chelsea and I enjoyed lunch after our big Kyaking adventure.
You can't come to Sydney for New Years Eve and not spend it on the Harbour. So back on a Ferry we went to have a few beverages and to watch the spectacular fire works display. Unfortunately my camera takes crap night pictures so I could not really capture the scene and do it justice but believe me it was one of the most amazing fire works displays I have ever seen! Put Sydney for New Years on your list of things to do before you die. Was well worth it and the whole city had a fun atmosphere even when walking back to the train station at the end of the night proved entertaining as thousands of people were still partying hard!
Ta Da! Bring on 2008!

Next on the list of things to do while in Sydney other than take shit loads of pictures o the bridge was to actually head out to Bondi Beach. Bondi is a pretty famous Australian beach but I must say that I had never actually visited it. So Mum and I caught a train and then a bus and headed down to one of the must see attractions for all backpackers.
Bondi Beach!
Bondi was the first ever beach to start Surf Life saving. This is the 100 year old club!

Surf was actually pretty good that day!

By this stage I had pretty much taken all the photos I need of the Harbour bridge hahah. The last few days of our holiday was spent up in the Blue Mountains and then back in the city of the Sydney festival which was a huge festival full of free concerts held all over the city. Unfortuantely that was the only day it rained so we sat out with garbage bags over our head and a bottle of wine to see Paul Kelly, Brian Wilson and Pink Martini play. Was a fun night though and was a good way to finish up our two weeks in Sydney.
So Now I am back on the Sunshine Coast. Back to work and Study. Who knows what 2008 will bring, my plan is to be in Canada by the start of June. Fingers crossed that all goes to plan but if not I am sure I will continue to bring you pointless ramblings. Till the next installment....
